Welcome to Mara Culture an initiative led by Mara Nda Wafocoye

Maraculture is an initiative of the Mara Nda Wafocoye association, dedicated to the preservation, manufacture and transmission of Mali's traditional musical instruments. Our cultural center, located in Bamako, is a lively meeting place for craftsmen, musicians, researchers and cultural enthusiasts.

The training and educational center C.F.A.I.T

The center offers learning and knowledge-sharing between elders and young people - so that they can pass on from generation to generation the heritage of musical instruments, dance pqs, craft techniques and skills, with the aim of preserving them.

RESTAURATION

We bring back to life ancient instruments from the Diré region that have fallen into oblivion or been damaged by time. Through meticulous work and dialogue with master craftsmen, we restore flutes, monochords (Djourkel), tam-tams and other jewels of our musical heritage.

MANUFACTURING

We build traditional instruments using local materials, respecting artisanal techniques handed down from generation to generation. Each piece is unique, carrying a sound and spirit rooted in the culture of Diré.
