Our HISTORY
Founded in 2020, the Mara Nda Wafocoye association works to safeguard knowledge linked to traditional instruments. Faced with the gradual disappearance of this knowledge, we created Maraculture to offer a place for learning, creating and sharing.
Maraculture is a project run by the Mara Nda Wafocoye association, based in Diré, in the Timbuktu region of northern Mali. This region boasts an exceptional musical and craft heritage, handed down from generation to generation.
Faced with the risk of disappearance of traditional instruments and the know-how that goes with them, we founded Maraculture to create a living space for making, learning and promoting these ancestral musical traditions.
We believe that culture is the root and driving force of peace, and that passing on knowledge means building the future.

Mara Culture
We aim to promote our cultural heritage for future generations
We intend to make your cultural heritage shine with elegance and impact! Creative thinkers, we're passionate about culture, curious about challenges and committed to promoting local knowledge. Our unique projects combine research, audiovisual creation, craftsmanship, sound design and the transmission of knowledge.
For us, each project is a human and artistic adventure, carried out in close collaboration with communities, artisans, young people and researchers.
We believe, this mission is a concrete way of reconciling tradition and modernity, while strengthening social and cultural ties.

- Promote ancient knowledge through stories and forgotten instruments
- Revive traditional craftsmanship through authentic objects
- Pass on knowledge to the next generation through training and creation
